If you are deciding whether or not you should join MLM, also called, network marketing, you could consider these issues first: Are you sure it is a real MLM program and not a pyramid? They are not the same.

MLM is legal and sells genuine products or services that you make commissions on. Pyramids have no products, no services, and they are not legal. Besides being against the law, pyramid schemes always end in disaster for all, but a lucky few at the very top.

Next: You need to have a conversation, with yourself. What is it you want to get out of network marketing, should you decide to go in that direction? Do you have to attain a certain income, for instance, a minimum of one hundred thousand dollars a year, in two or three years? Due to the fact the MLM has a structure that lets you leverage the activity of other people, (a basic principle of wealth), that may be possible. But, there are no guarantees and even if you get to that income bracket, it could take a decade or longer.

Chances are you know for a fact you will never achieve 6 figures on your current job, so joining an MLM to supplement your income may be a viable option. You usually only need to dedicate a few to several hours a week, and if you like it, you may end up firing your boss as your downline grows.

The great thing about network marketing is you are not limited to earning commissions only from you direct customers (referrals). You make commissions from the referrals of your referrals; and then from their referrals, on down the line, for a number of levels deep. In time, it can grow quite large, giving you very nice monthly residual payments; but it can only happen if you work. You can’t expect others to do the work for you.

What you mainly invest in, with MLM, is time. Some people complain that it takes too much time, but they should consider the money and time invested in a traditional business, that could go five years, and only then, see their first profit. It is not uncommon to hear stories from MLM millionaires who talk about the times they almost quit because they wanted instant gratification.

With proper MLM training from someone who is experienced and successful, you should be able to do well if you choose to join MLM. There are basic skills and tools a good mentor can help you acquire & learn to use, that will assure your success, if you are willing to make the commitment and persevere.
