Books the world over are beloved by children. There are a few good books for kids that have been in circulation for ages and are still read by kids of all ages. They can be found at any library. There are also some lists that are devoted to compiling all the favorite books for kids.

Maurice Sendaks book Where The Wild Things Are is a wild rumpus through the land of Wild Things, when a boy goes to sleep and then drifts off to the island of monsters, whom he soon becomes friends with. Critics gave the book negative marks but as soon as kids started checking it out of the library nonstop, it was then received with praise.

Another famous book is Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. The story is about a child saying goodnight to the things in his room around him, ending finally with the moon.

Older kids may know classics like Mark Twains fictional stories and the books of Shel Silverstein, most popularly Where The Sidewalk Ends. These have been read in school or have been featured in libraries. Both Twain and Silverstein have a huge following and have written many books for kids.

Newbury Medal award winning Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Fred Gibsons Old Yeller, are both classics that have been around for years and still to this day are enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.

The Harriet the Spy series is another well loved and popular series, as well as books by Judy Blume. Shes another prolific writer who has managed to write dozens of well loved children and young adult books. Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys also stay popular with children.

Roald Dahl wrote The Great Glass Elevator and Danny, Champion of the World. Many of Dahls books have been made into movies. Judi Barrett’s Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs has most recently been made into a movie too. These books remain favored by kids and to this day are still read.
